Entering the European litigation market

4.10.2023

FFTP, whose key investor and founder is the Natland Group, has decided to defend the interests of some 160,000 truck owners across Europe. From 1997 until 2016, they bought trucks from leading European manufacturers such as Daimler, MAN, Volvo/Renault, DAF, Iveco and Scania, which, however, entered into cartel agreements during those years to increase the prices of their products sold in Europe across the board. Their misconduct was also found by the European Commission. To date, the victims have been pursuing their claims, totalling around €1.4 billion, in the European courts.

The FFTP is ready to provide litigation funding, or litigation funding, for claims by truck owners or buyers injured by cartel conduct of manufacturers. Natland has joined the German company Financialright Claims GmBH, which has so far handled the case in cooperation with the law firm Hausfeld. The combination of Financialright Claims’ experience and track record in the case is expected to help the victims obtain compensation.

FFTP has been providing litigation financing services for several years and has experience and know-how with similar cases. Given the international scope of the case, it decided to engage one of the leading experts in international law and negotiations, Radek Šnábl. He is best known for his work at the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, where as Director of the International Law Department he was responsible for managing international arbitrations. “We expect to conclude the case in a timeframe of between two and five years,” says Šnábl.

FFTP is one of the leading players in the litigation finance industry. The fund focuses on portfolios of claims, individual claims and their management and administration. Its key investor and founder is the Natland Group.
